Heads of female mannequins are against sharia law: Taliban officials

Taliban officials in directorate of promotion of virtue in Herat province issued a new instruction that according which the heads of the female mannequins must not be shown in shops and get cut off as they believe it is against the sharia law.

An afficial in Directorate of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in western Herat province told Raha Press reporter on Monday that from now on the heads of the female mannequins shall not be shown in shops and get cut off as they are posing against the Islamic sharia laws.

he said that looking at the face such mannequins are against the sharia law.  

The instruction comes a day after the group in Kabul issued a guidance instruction advising taxi drivers not to offer drive for those unveiled women without close male relatives.

A number of shopkeepers in Herat raised concerns against such instruction and said Taliban is making life more difficult for them as each day passes.

They told Raha Press reporter they bought each mannequin for 100 to 200 USD and now they have to cut their heads off.

Ali Ahmad, one Herati shopkeepers said “actually, these mannequins are my only belongings now, and now with this new order I have to cut their heads off. It is a great loss for me.”
