In Islamabad, US envoy to Afghanistan to meet Taliban’s FM
Though Afghanistan is not a member of Troika Plus, Amir Khan Motaqi was extended an invitation by Islamabad who will extend his stay in Pakistan by a day in order to discuss bilateral issues with Pakistan.

As both US special representative to Afghanistan Thomas West and Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Motaqi are attending Troika Plus in Islamabad, they are also intended to be meeting each other.
Amir Khan Motaqi, leading a high-level delegation arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday evening.
Though Afghanistan is not a member of Troika Plus, Amir Khan Motaqi was extended an invitation by Islamabad who will extend his stay in Pakistan by a day in order to discuss bilateral issues with Pakistan.
Troika Plus will be attended by special representatives of Pakistan, Russia, China, and the US and will be concentrated on Afghanistan.
Pakistani officials have said that the primary aim of Troika Plus will be finding ways to avert the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and to establish an inclusive government.
The US special representative for Afghanistan who is on his first Asian and European tour will also be visiting India and Russia.
Spokesperson of US state department Ned Price said that Thomas West will make clear the expectations they have of the Taliban and of any future government in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Thomas West had told reporters in Brussels that the US has held consultations on a road map for recognizing the Taliban’s government.
