India to deploy Russia’s air defense system along Pakistan and China border

India is reportedly willing to deploy its new Russian-made air defense system (S-400) along its north-western border to counter possible attacks from Pakistan and China.

Local media have reported that the Indian Air force will deploy the system to Punjab.

The S-400 system is said to be capable of dealing with airborne threats from any country in the region especially Pakistan and China.

China and Pakistan are currently archrival of India as the latter has border serious border issues with the former two.

The deliveries of the S-400 defense system is part of the India-Russia $5.5 billion worth of military agreement based on which Russia provides Indian with the surface-to-air defense system.

Delivery of the system to India has been started and its first batch is expected to be completed by the end of this year while the whole system will probably take a few months.

In the meantime, several officers of the Indian Air Force have already been trained in Russia.

It comes as Indian has also signed an agreement with France based on which the former will buy Rafael jet planes.
