Intra-Afghan talks should begin as soon as possible
Intra-Afghan peace talks should start as soon as possible,NATO’s senior civilian representative to Afghanistan said.

Speaking in an interview with an Afghan TV in Brussels, Nicholas Kay said that the Taliban should accept meeting with Afghan government representative and other Afghans.
He said that intra-Afghan talks were a priority which should start immediately.
Asked about the Taliban’s intent for peace, Kay said that the Taliban would not win on the battlefield. He highlighted high level of casualties Afghans suffer from war.
He said that intra-Afghan talks were the only way to end violence.
On presidential election due to be held in September, Kay suggested that both election and peace are important. He said that there should be efforts for both.
Kay also emphasized on role Pakistan could play in Afghanistan peace process. He called for joint cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan on eliminating terrorist sanctuaries.
He also emphasized on the need to preserve post-2001 gains including on human rights and democracy in peace talks.
