Former president Hamid Karzai says all Afghan girls “must definitely” return to school for the country’s prosperity.
Sticking to his guns on the issue, Karzai called girls’ education “absolutely” necessary for the well-being of the country.
In an interview aired on Wednesday, the ex-president also underlined women’s return to work in line with public aspirations.
Speaking to France 24, Karzai urged the new rulers to bring all countrymen together and evolve a national consensus on Afghanistan’s future.
If the Taliban succeeded in uniting Afghans from all walks of life, they would be able to win international recognition.
“We, the Afghan people, need to put our own house in order first,” he believed, asking the Taliban to ascertain the will of the masses on issues of national importance.
