Logar deputy governor killed in a Taliban ambush

Afghan officials say that eastern Logar deputy governor, Kamaruddin Shekib was killed on early Thursday in a Taliban ambush.

A Logar MP, Akbar Stanekzai confirmed the news and said Shekib was to arrive in Kabul on a vacation.

He said at least two of his bodyguards were wounded in the incident.

The Taliban announced on Wednesday the start of their spring offensive under the name of “Al-Khandaq Operations” throughout Afghanistan with killing and capturing Americans and their supporters as their prime targets.
