New plan for peace talks agreed on
President Ghani on Sunday night meeting with US State department’s special representatives on the Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad said a new plan for the peace process was agreed on.

“We have agreed on a new and clear plan with Mr Khalilzad, in which the information will be shared in the context of it. Continues consultations will be conducted about particular agenda and measures will be carried out in the light of it,” added president Ghani.
He said that “attention will be paid on national, regional, international and Islamic countries and further discussions needed to arrange a framework, existing consensus will be consolidated and in some cases, consensus should be reached”.
According to the statement by Arg, president Ghani said that “we want Pakistan to clarify its relations with the Taliban and Taliban to clarify their relations with Pakistan. The Taliban’s connection with terrorist networks and their links with crime and forbidden economies should be made clear as well”.

Khalilzad said that “With the new plan that emerges in a clear framework, we
will move forward with the peace process.”
“The purpose of the United States, in addition to cooperating with Afghanistan
in various fields, is to increase efforts through diplomatic channels to
establish lasting peace in Afghanistan in order to preserve the interests of
both countries and try to reduce the cost of war,” Khalilzad added.
Mr Khalilzad also welcomed president Ghani’s initiative to hold consultative
Loya Jirga about the peace process.
