Ousted Samangan governor says he doesn’t leave his office

The Ousted governor of Samangan province Abdul Karim Khedam has said he opposes the decision of the government regarding his dismissal and doesn’t leave his office.

Abdul Karim Khedam said in a press conference today that he doesn’t accept the decision made by the government regarding his dismissal from the provincial government of Samangan.

Khedam who is a member of Jamiat-e-Islami, the party Ata Mohammad Noor is its chief executive, said that the National Unity Government of Afghanistan is based on a political agreement, and so the recent decision is in contrary to the all agreements reached earlier.

He added that he and his deputy will continue to their work at the provincial government office until a proper decision be made by Jamiat-e-Islami leadership and Turkmen people of the province.

The Independent Directorate of the Local Governance (IDLG) said on Saturday that the Afghan government has appointed new governors for five different provinces of the country.
