Peace talks to be resumed with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar Hizb-e-Islami

People in Hizb-e-Islami party led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar say their officials are to resume peace talks with Afghan government soon.

Ghairat Bahir head of political commission for Hizb-e-Islami party told media that their officials in Hekmatyar’s Hizb-e-Islami party are to resume talks with the Afghan government soon.


A group of Hizb-e-Islami party representatives including Muhammad Rasoul, Haji Abdel Malik and Haji Atighullah Safi will arrive Sunday in Kabul to resume talks, according to Bahir.

Ghairat Bahir expresses hopes the new round of peace talks between Afghan government and Hizb-e-Islami party results fruitful.


The talks between Afghan officials and Hizb-e-Islami party representatives started almost 4 months ago, and after weeks of talks and negotiations, two sides reportedly agreed on some terms.


However, when the case referred to top official of Hizb-e-Islami party Gulbuddin Hekmatyar for further consideration by its representatives, it went suspended over some disputes until now.
