President Ghani appoints new mayor for Kabul
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has appointed Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz as the new mayor of Kabul, the Office of the President said Wednesday.

According to a statement released by the Office of the President, Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz has been appointed as the new mayor of Kabul based on a presidential decree.
The decree states that the appointment of Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz as the new mayor of Kabul has been approved as per the Article 13 and Item 64 of the Constitution of Afghanistan.
Sohaib Rahim, the former deputy mayor of Kabul for administrative and financial affairs was appointed as the acting mayor of Kabul.
Mr. Rahim had assumed charge as acting mayor of Kabul around four months ago and almost a month after the former mayor of Kabul Abdul Habibzai stepped down.
