Shahr Safa district police chief assassinated in Kandahar
Local officials in southern Kandahar province have said that Shahr-e-Safa district of Zabul province police chief has been assassinated by unknown gunmen.
The incident took place at around noon time in the vicinity of the 9th police district of Kandahar city, according to local officials.
Khaama press has reported that sources in the governor’s office in Kandahar say the police chief Gul Ahmad Gerani was shot dead as he was travelling in the vicinity of the ninth police district of the city.
A security guard of Mr. Gerani was also wounded in the attack, the sources said, adding that the assailants have managed to flee the area.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.
