Taliban reacts to government’s move for not disclosing the names of negotiating team members

The Taliban group has reacted to government’s move for not disclosing the names of the members of negotiating team for the intra-Afghan dialogue.

Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for the political office of Taliban said in a Twitter post that keeping the names of the negotiating team members as confidential has either links with the internal rift or certain influential circles have control over it.

Shaheen also raised questions regarding the inclusiveness of the team and said such a team will neither have the authority to decide nor will have support of political circles.

The State Ministry for Peace Affairs said late last month the government has appointed a 15-member delegation for the talks with the Taliban group.

According to a statement released by State Minister of Peace Affairs, the government has done its best to consider social and ethnic diversity in the delegation.

The statement further added that the delegation is fully prepared to start talks with the Taliban and defend the Islamic Republic values of Afghanistan.
