Taliban: Seeking alternatives in Doha agreement will result in failure

In a released statement on Sunday Taliban marked the first anniversary of the Doha agreement and said that the group has done its part in the deal and that is a practical way towards peace.

Taliban added that any attempt to look for an alternative will result in failure in the peace process.

Taliban group in the statement urged the United States to be committed to the Doha agreement, demanded the release of remaining Taliban prisoners, and asked for the removal of their names from the UN blacklist.

While blaming the United States for their continuous bombing operations on the group, Taliban said they have fulfilled their commitments and did not violate the Doha deal.

Taliban also stated that the implementation of the agreement “must be utilized to improve the situation and pushing it in the wrong direction must be avoided”.

In the statement, the Taliban claimed to have distanced itself from targeted attacks and assassination, according to the group some circles with their interests tied to foreign bodies have recently launched attacks on civilians to show that the situation is teetering and is on the verge of crisis so that the war could continue.

This comes after a year passed since the US-Taliban agreement was signed, and the violence intensified in Afghanistan.

Taliban were blamed for major casualties in the country.

On the other hand, Anas Haqqani, a member of the Taliban’s political office and a pardoned prisoner said that we have never broken any agreement in history, the enemy has always done it.

Despite violations, our agreement will not be based on deception.

“Today we have both. We have the technology to use drones, we have our own missiles. This time if the Mujahideen resume fighting the enemies, it would be something they have never seen before”, Anas Tweeted
