Taliban shadow district governor killed in airstrike in Nangarhar

A Taliban shadow district governor along with his 12 men including a local Taliban commander were killed in an airstrike in Nangarhar province.

According to the spokesperson of Nangarhar police HQ, the drone targeted a “Datsun” model vehicle in Landi Kambo area of Khogyani district on Saturday night.

Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal says everybody riding in the vehicle including the Taliban so-called governor for Khogyani District were killed and the vehicle completely destroyed.

He said besides Noor Rahman, the Taliban shadow district governor, the deaths include a local Taliban commander by the name of Sayedajan.

A statement released by Col. Mashriqiwal on Sunday states that security forces have detained a member of Daesh group in Achin District.

The statement identifies the detained terrorist as Hayatullah, a Pakistani national.

For legal procedures, he was handed over to the officials of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) taking part in the ongoing security operation in the district, the statement said.

Security operation in Achin District has been ongoing since two weeks and spokesperson for the province’s governor told reporters today that security forces have killed around 150 insurgents so far.
