Taliban travel barriers need to be released
Zalmay Khalilzad met Zamir Kabulov in Turkey and two sides discussed Afghan peace process and Taliban delegation travel barriers.

US state department’s special representative on Afghan peace process on Friday twitted: “We agreed that all-inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue is essential to advance peace efforts. To move forward, Afghans should name a unified, inclusive and national negotiating team that includes the Afghan government and other Afghans,”
The two sides also discussed travel barriers to
talks.
“We will explore options for securing UN travel waivers for Taliban negotiators
to participate in peace talks,” he added.
This comes as in the latest case, Taliban – Pakistan talks canceled as
Afghanistan complained to the UN over the meeting.
Mr Khalilzad and his Russian counterpart also agreed
that any final agreement must guarantee that Afghan soil is never used by
international terrorists against any country.
“We discussed a potential regional framework to coordinate efforts for peace
and deter spoilers,” Khalilzad said.
Meanwhile, Zamir Kabulov has recently said he hopes
Turkey will attend next Moscow meeting on Afghan peace process.
“We will be pleased if [Turkey] attends the next meeting in Moscow” on Afghan
peace talks, Kabulov said in a statement as quoted in a report by Anadolu News
Agency on Friday.
Kabulov made the remarks after meeting with Zalmay Khalilzad, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation and Riza Hakan Tekin, head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Asia Department, in Ankara, the report said.
“The US has proposed establishing grounds for reconciliation in Afghanistan, and Russia is ready to consider this offer,” Kabulov added.
