Truck bomb in Balkh left dozens of casualties

A truck bomb exploded in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province on Tuesday, causing dozens of casualties, army said.

Hebatullah Alizai, commander of Army’s 209th Corps Shaheen, said that the bombing happened near a base of commandos.

One commando was killed while six more were wounded. The blast caused 30 to 35 civilian casualties as well, he said.

Earlier, Tariq Arian, a spokesman for Interior Ministry, said that the blast happened near a veterinary clinic.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
