US, UK and France bombings on Syria left three civilians injured

Syrian Military has said that the US, UK and France air bombings on territory of Syria have left three civilians injured.

The Syrian army has said that more than 100 missiles launched by the US, UK and France on targets in Damascus and outside left three civilians injured.

Evening Standard has quoted Brigadier General Ali Mayhoub as saying that the allies fired 110 missiles during the joint attack on targets in Damascus and outside, but most of them were “effectively shot down”.

In a statement read on Syrian television he said one of the missiles hit a “scientific research centre” in Barzeh, near Damascus, damaging a building.

Another, in Homs, injured three people, he said.

“Our air defences effectively shot down most of them,” he said.

He added that the attacks “will not deter” the Syrian military from its ongoing war to eradicate “armed terrorists” from its territory.

Syria’s foreign ministry claimed the attack was aimed at hindering the work of a fact-finding team from the international chemical weapons watchdog who were due to visit the site of the alleged chemical attack in Douma on Saturday.

The OPCW had said that its experts would be visiting Douma on Saturday.

It comes as Russia’s defence ministry has issued a statement saying “more than 100 cruise missiles and air-to-land missiles were fired by the US, Britain, and France from the sea and air at Syrian military and civilian targets”.

The statement said Syria’s Soviet-made air defense systems have shot down all 12 cruise missile aimed at a Syrian air base.

It did not mention the overall number of missiles intercepted by Syrian forces.
