Young Afghan media worker ends his life over problems after Taliban takeover

A young Afghan media worker Mohammad Haroon Nirumand ended his life on late Wednesday after he spent the past three months unemployed and in stress.

Afghanistan Free Journalist Association confirmed the incident and said Harron Nirumand was a technician to now-closed Meshrano-Jirga TV before Taliban took over the country.

According to sources close to Haroon Nirumand, he took his life late Wednesday over depression and economic problems he had been facing since he lost his job.

Since the Taliban takeover, at least 200 Afghan media outlets have either suspended or ended their activities and their employees have lost their jobs; that some of whom have left the country while many others have turned to rigorous works to be still the breadwinner.
